A few weeks ago, I was given the opportunity to visit Reno for the first time. I am currently still serving on the board of directors for the Association for Women in Events, and the Peppermill in Reno graciously offered to host our board meeting. I’ve known their team for many years, but have never made it out to the property. I knew that I wasn’t going to have a lot of time to explore the area. It was an extremely quick trip, but I thought I’d tell you all about it.
Upon arrival into the city, I was exhausted and a little feverish after the long and warm train ride. Exiting the train station, the heat overwhelmed me a little, but I got myself a Lyft, and my driver could not have been nicer. She showed up in a mini cooper and gave me some information about the city as we drove through.
It seems like a city in transition. There are a lot of highlights. I asked to stop at the Reno sign, as it was the one item I wanted to get out and see.
Once I arrived at the Peppermill, I was pleased to find it clean and lovely. Like Vegas properties, it’s expansive. Reno has a nostalgic charm. I felt like I was stepping back in time. (Not in a bad way). It has a very old school hollywood casino movie vibe. The rooms were luxurious, and held the same charm. My room was very large, and filled with a comfortable bed and the bathrooms was gigantic.
The bar and lounge was beautiful. This chandelier was just lovely. For our board meeting, we were placed in a double decker board room suite with gorgeous digital panels, neon lighting accents, and plush chairs.
The staff were all extremely lovely, from the front desk clerk to the casino managers. It’s a unique property. For a meeting, it would really depend on your audience. As I said, it has a nostalgic charm, so if your attendees are used to a modern and sleep hotel, it might not be their cup of tea, but if you are seeking a venue with a wonderful staff and a unique feel, I highly recommend the Peppermill. We could not have had a more pleasant stay, and again, the team at the Peppermill were just wonderful.
Instead of going “out” we decided to play it low key and just stay on property. I decided to wear this J.Crew tank and a pair of white jeans. I threw in my favorite life preserver purse from Kate Spade and was happy to check out the different areas of this hotel.
