One of Nate and my favorite traditions is throwing a gigantic Kentucky Derby Party each year. It’s my Super Bowl. Sadly, this year, between travel, client transitions, and just overall life, I woke up one morning realizing that May 5th was rapidly approaching and there was no way I was going to get my s*** together enough to pull off my annual party. Sorry friends! Next year, we’ll resume tradition!!
Instead, Nate and I decided to join my awesome friend Matt Fox (the other Matt Fox) for his birthday celebrations in DC, and watch the Derby at a bar celebration. Happy Birthday Matthew Fox!
Just because we were not hosting, was no reason to phone it in. I chose this fabulous white Gal Meets Glam Dress, and it was perfection! Gal Meets Glam (Julia Engel), is one of my absolutely favorite bloggers. When she launched her dress collection, I was dying! Each dress is absolutely stunning, and felt tailor made for me! I couldn’t help myself, and ended up buying FOUR of her collection. (Honestly, I could easily have purchased every single piece).
Nate put on his fabulous Kentucky Derby Pants, and his Vineyard Vines Mint Julep bow tie!
This white bow neck dress was just the ticket for the Derby, and it seemed to demand pink pops of color! I am still obsessed with these pink ombré bow shoes from J.Crew! Add in my amazing pink Loren Hope earrings and the color was just right.
I had a different hat in mind, but since I needed pink instead of turquoise, I went with this one. For my hat, I took one of my existing fascinators and clipped it to my horse headband! Perfect for Derby Day!
